Re: Model minors.
I have several of the Sunstar 1:12 Minors - Panda, Million,Traveller and Tourer. Also below, 1:24 Routemaster and 1:24 Yelloway Bedford OB - the latter is quite appropriate as we live in Rochdale![frame]

Re: Advice on buying a Convertible please.
I'd steer well clear of West Riding Classics - please PM me for reasons why, I'm not sure how the mods would feel about me "venting" on here!

Thanks busguy,
That fits perfectly for our March 64 car.

Re: Suffix registrations
Oh, pretty much everything tallies down to the original engine. I think the car would have had a pull starter switch, but there's a later combined ignition/start.

Re: Suffix registrations
Thanks Louise,
I did wonder if that was the case - we have a model Minor on the dresser with a -WL "A" plate, but the number's probably phony.
Paranoia sort of kicked in, so I went in the engine bay to confirm the stamped chassis number matched that on the green book!

Suffix registrations
Morning all, I'm guessing that our Traveller rather self-explains my question, but didn't ALL areas adopt suffix registrations in 1963? Our car was registered in Oxford in 1964, but carries a six-digit "TWL" plate. This is original,as the car's green book shows. There's also the question o...

Re: insurance
I took Roy's (bmcecosse) advice and took out a policy with RH Insurance yesterday. £110 for our Traveller, inclusive of breakdown, legal and (apparently) Class 1 business use too. Not that the car would ever grace the car park of the local sewage works!*edit* Slight thread hijack, looking at the OP!...

Bit harsh, Roy...? Some folks wouldn't know engine oil from cooking oil.

The Series II gear sticks aren't known as "pudding stirrers" for nothing.

Re: 3rd gear prob
Never driven a Series MM , but third gear was always a bit woolly on our Series II, it was "all in the wrist action" - a sharp flick to the right usually did the trick.

Re: Erratic fuel pump
In the immortal words of Catweazle, "nothing works"!! :) If something electronic conks out, that's usually it at roadside - "no user serviceable parts inside". From what I can tell, a good torch, a bit of emery board (and my reading glasses!) might save the day with points. Gone ...

Re: Erratic fuel pump
About half, I think - there's certainly fuel in the tank. I don't trust the replacement sender that I fitted just after getting the car, which is still showing "full". I tested the sender before fitting and it seemed to perform OK, I must have misjudged where to set the float. I tend to sh...

Re: Erratic fuel pump
Oh, if it has to be changed, then it'll be a good ol' points pump. I prefer simple things over "black boxes", the telephone in the hall is an old GPO bakelite model.

Re: Erratic fuel pump
I blew the suction line through using my airbrush compressor, there doesn't seem to be any blockage there. I got a bit more of a turn on the union nut doing the pipe up again, and the pump *seems* better - there might possibly have been a leak here and the pump was drawing air. If the pump carries on...

Erratic fuel pump
Hi everyone, The fuel pump in the Traveller has started acting up - the pump looks like a SU clone of some kind, silver in colour with what looks like a shield emblem on the end. Google doesn't seem to throw up the same pump, but the logo looks like Harting? Tank, rigid fuel line and pump all look r...

Maybe the door hinges aren't quite properly aligned, putting the pillar under an abnormal twisting load when it's opened...? Just my two penn'orth, though it does look as if the wood has been on the car for some time.

Re: RE SPOTTED TODAY INFRINGEMENT OF PRIVACY
There is possibly a case for a requirement to obscure the registration number of any car photographed...? Not that I harbour any concerns myself, one can imagine an almighty row breaking out somewhere when someone sees a picture of their partner's car outside "that house" or "that blo...
