Re: ANTI-ROLBAR

Front anti-roll bar and gas shocks certainly work well together on my 1275 Minor.

Re: recalibrate a speedo

Speedy Cables of London (actually based in Swansea!) did an excellent job on my Minor speedo when I changed the g/box to a Toyota 5 speed.Give them a call.

Re: AERIAL

I have fitted these aerials to both my Morris and my '60's Volvo. They work perfectly when fitted to the top of the windscreen behind the rear-view mirror and are fairly inconspicuous when in place. You can earth the amp.to the mirror fixing screw and "lose" the other cables behind the w/scr...

Brake light switch

Am I just unlucky or is there a problem with brake light switches? I use my Minor regularly all year round but have had 5 switches fail in the last 6yrs.and now the current item needs replacing too.All have been purchased from various well-known suppliers who have assured me that they are top qualit...

Re: Classic Car Radio with modern touch

Simply go to a good car audio supplier and ask for their advice .You can then view and listen to many options and simply choose one that suits your personal taste (and pocket)! Car audio is very much dependant on the listener and what other people like may well not be to your liking so how can we be...

All quite feasable I'm sure but would young ben-minor-63 be able to afford (or even obtain) insurance cover? We seem to have strayed somewhat from the original thread!

Re: Headlight Visors

Their original purpose many years ago was to prevent headlamp glare in fog. Of course,we just don't get the old "pea-soupers" any more so their purpose nowadays is merely decorative or to maim pedestrians!

Re: Looking for Morris Minor restorer in norwich

May I highly recommend Jim Smith trading as "Carsmiths"Unit 6,Old Station Yard,Chapel Street,Cawston,Norfolk.NR10 4BG.Tel07766192326. His business is only about 6 miles out of Norwich off the Holt road and well worth a visit but a good idea to ring first as he is a "one man band"...

Re: Broken halfshaft? Or something else?

I have recently fitted a pair of EN24 H/shafts from Morris Minor Centre Birmingham and they are British made and priced at £216 per.pair +VAT. The only slight problem I found was that countersinking for the retaining screw was far too shallow so had to be machined.MMCB were informed of the problem b...

Re: has smoothrite changed?

I agree that "Smoothrite" is not what it used to be.I am seriously considering using "Rust Bullet" on the inside of a floor pan which I am currently cleaning up prior to re-carpeting. Has anyone had experience of this product? Any information good/bad would be greatly appreciated...

Total brain failure! Please ignore my last posting. The HIF44 is a type of concentric carb.and I'll get back to you when I've collected my thoughts - although "someone"will probably beat me to it!

Re: HIF44 Choke operation

Surely the choke on the HIF44 is the butterfly valve? The jet on this type of carb is fixed and does not move when the choke is operated .This is the case with mine.

Ignore the Luddites! I have enjoyed 1000's of miles driving various pre 1970 cars and motocycles ALL converted to electronic ignition and never had a problem with any of the units. Each to their own,but on acquiring a Classic one of the first essential tasks for me is to "bin"the points asa...

Re: Life with Mickey Mouse petrol

I changed to an Aldon Dizzy with vacuum advance on my fast road 1275. Expensive,I know, but well worth it. Since the upgrade (together with the "dreaded"electronic ign.) have had no problems whatsoever although the advance curve is steep and timing really needs setting up on a rolling road ...

Re: pop's place

Unfortunately the web site is out of date as "Pop" moved from Rushall to new premises in Lowestoft earlier this year.I cannot find his new phone no/address at the moment but will supply as soon as I can. Meanwhile perhaps one of the Norfolk clubs can help regarding his exact whereabouts?
