Re: Rear arch
If you haven't welded before I would strongly advise you to practice welding some pieces of scrap steel first. This will allow you to develop your welding technique and ensure your welds are strong. I assume you have a mig welder rather than an arc welder? - it is very skilled job welding thin body ...

Re: 12A1456 Cylinder Head Suitability on a 948cc
I've been sent a few photos of the head - sadly it looks as though part of the face has been sat in water or damp and has some corrosion.
It will need a skim but I'm not sure a skim will get the corrosion out.
Otherwise it looks OK.

12A1456 Cylinder Head Suitability on a 948cc
I have located a 12A1456 cylinder head which originated from a Mini (engine size unknown). Would this be suitable for fitment to my 1957 Minor which has a 948cc engine? The block in my Minor was replaced with a short motor after piston number 3 decided to go walkabout out of the side of the block so...

Re: SU Fuel Pump won't stop pumping
I'm beginning to suspect the non return valve as the issue as I can hear something rattling inside the pump in the area of the inlet/outlets. I've checked the fuel filter and screws around the diaphragm and they're all tight. I shall investigate further at the weekend. Thanks for your suggestions :t...

Re: SU Fuel Pump won't stop pumping
Thank you for your replies, much appreciated. Drawing air from somewhere sounds a very good suggestion. I can discount the supply line from the tank as replacing the 'reconditioned' unit with the old, but known good pump and it can pump fuel without issue and shuts off when the float bowl is full. I...

SU Fuel Pump won't stop pumping
I have a 1957 4 door which has a good, working positive earthed SU fuel pump with the original points system. As a 'back up' I have a reconditioned 'spare' SU pump of the same type in the boot 'just in case'. It was supplied via the club spares section. It's out of warranty now although its never be...

Seat mounting bolt size?
Having 'long' legs I'm removing the driver's seat from my 57 saloon to move it backwards slightly by using the 'other' two (of four) captive bolts welded to the chassis. Having removed the bolts I'm not convinced they are the originals as the threads are pretty chewed up - and they won't screw into ...

splitscreen glass replacement
after purchasing 3 front rubber surrounds from 3 different suppliers it is obvious that they do not fit because they all have a manufacturing defect, the lip on the outside is not deep enough and to flimsy to secure screens into frame.after several failed attempts i bought 3.5 metres of 1181 windscr...

New harness
Hi guys, I am undertaking a full restoration of a 56 series 2. I have decided (1 year ago) to replace the wiring harness with a new "original style" harness from Autosparks. I carefully labelled the old harness as I removed it. The new harness uses different colours and when I called Autos...

Re: Electronic ignition
Hi All, I am going to fit an electronic ignition system to my Moggie having become fed up with the all too frequent breakdowns due to condenser and rotor arm failures. I would like to know if anyone has advice or recommendations on the reliability of systems available. Cheers, Al D.
