It fits onto the channel behind the quarterlight. Make sure the flange inside the channel is behind the felt so that the glass slides past without being scratched. The protective plate goes onto the painted part of the channel. Don't be afraid to tighten the screws well as the mirror can work loose ...

How many folk are the SAME age as their MOG? Hello all. Not visited the MB for a while. Came back to find this poll. I am 6 months older than my Series 2, and quite a bit older than the convertible. In fact had I voted two weeks ago I would have been in another age range. I now find myself in the l...

Its also worth upgrading to a duplex chain at the same time if you do intend changing it as they run much quieter for much longer. I'd definitely agree with this. I bought my kit from MGM with all the bits in. All I had to buy extra was a decent countersink for the replacement screws. Getting the c...

These "experts" will try telling us anything! I took my radiator to a "radiator specialist" to see if he could remove a dint in the top hose tube. The reply I got was - "I can't do anything with that - it's brass"

I rest my case

I had mine blasted and powder-coated OEW (quoting WT3). When they came back they were a slightly lighter shade than the grill. that I had brush painted with WT3, specially mixed by my local motor factor shop. But who's to say which one is the correct shade? At least when I had the S11 wheels done th...

Advice to all owners - make a note of the FS (or other) number and get a spare cut as soon as you can. I keep the key numbers written down and filed away with the reg documents. Various suppliers advertise stocks of FS etc key blanks, including, I think, the club spares department.

Parts can be ordered online from

www.burlen.co.uk

I've done this and been very impressed by Burlens quick response.

MGM (and presumably other Minor parts suppliers) sell bottles of damper oil. I've used this in mine and it's been OK. Might as well use the correct fluid if it's available, which it seems to be.

It sounds as though the fuel in the carb is vapourising due to heat from the manifold. This problem has been discussed before. Look at http://www.morrisminoroc.co.uk/index.ph ... pic&t=4268

I raised the same query a while ago at http://www.morrisminoroc.co.uk/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=3653 I managed to drill a new cap and fit the tube to it OK. It's a bit of a fiddle and if it goes wrong you'll need a new cap, and I am told by one supplier that these are difficul...

This only seems to affect 1098 Engines Martin I was in the stop-start queue coming through Castle Donington village and heard my pump racing to supply my 803cc engine. I wondered what the cause of this was. This post has explained what was happening. Fortunately I didn't konk out, but was visualisi...

Benjy I have the same problem as you. I was shown the problem by the MOT inspector last week in graphic detail! I have decided to bite the bullet and take the car to a Minor specialist for replacement, along with most of the rest of the underneath. I bought the car as a long-term hobby and knew that...

If you have difficulty getting a Workshop Manual there's a seller on ebay sells a CD of the full manual in pdf format. He's on quite regularly. I bought one and it's extremely useful as a reference file whilst at the pc. You can also print out the page(s) you want and not worry about getting greasy ...

Never mind the plug - what about the little brass tap at the base of the radiator... where did that go to?? Gareth, You have to have a CLASSIC Minor to get one of those. In fact you get two - one on the engine block too. I've recently unseized mine. It's so good that I keep playing with it to make ...

Well, I've bled the brakes with the Eezibleed kit and it went remarkably well - 2 hours, including blacking the tyres whilst the wheels were off. I would recommend anyone intending doing this job to invest in the Eezibleed kit. It was Eezi! Such a simple idea too. The cap conversion held the pressur...

Have completed the conversion tonight, but found that I can't get the backnut inside the cap. However, the thread self tapped into the hole and I was able to nip this tight onto the fibre washer. I have sealed the well inside with silicone and have left this to go off until Sunday when I hope to do ...

The Eezibleed kit has been discussed at length elsewhere as well and it's a useful piece of equipment. 57 Traveller, can you point me to this thread - I have run a search and lots of results but none with specific reference to brakes. I bought my Eezibleed Kit today and reading the instructions loo...

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I think I will use standard fluid at the moment and have a good look at all the seals etc before trying silicone. Is Lockheed fluid still available, and if not what is recommended?

Yes, I'm a member too. Joined September '02. I wonder how many members are no longer owners. Both my cars came complete with stickers and keyrings, so presumably previous owners were members. Did they sell their only Mog or did they buy another, I wonder?
