Thanks Ray
I think I may go and speak to the MOT tester before I start welding.

Chassis leg spot welds 1963 4 door saloon

Hi
I have removed the RH chassis leg and Engine Bay Floor by carefully drilling out all the spot welds. Is it acceptable (To an MOT station) to weld in the new sections by welding and filling into the old spot welds or do I have to weld the seams as well?
Many thanks.

Re: Front wing removal

"chickenjohn" Its off. A bit of a pig. The only one I had trouble with was the very bottom bolt, how do you get to the nut??? Anyway I ground it off and got the nut out through the enormous rusty hole it exposed. To make life more interesting the front panel was welded to the wings and th...

Front wing removal

Hi
What is the process for removing a front wing. I am sorry if someone has already written this up but I cant find it anywhere and it isn't mentioned in my MM manuals.

Many thanks.

Re: Rear Window Misting

The problem is that your car is WET inside - get it dry - and there will be no more fogging. Are the carpets wet ? Is there a pool of water under the rear seat ? The real answer (after ensuring a completely dry car) is good ventilation - and drive with the windows partly open ! Hello The car is tot...

Rear Window Misting

Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong section. I live on the banks of the river Severn so our environment is damper than most. My Morris suffers badly from a fogged up rear screen and I cant afford the heated option. My first Minor had a cellophane panel which was stuck onto the glass and served...

Glove box lids and inners?

Hello My 63 4 door has glovebox inserts with a chrome plastic trim around the edge. I have bought glovebox lids to fit, they are the kind that fit into the hole. What I cant understand is how the glovebox liner fits in with the lid, I realise that I will have to lose the chrome plastic trim, but sho...

Re: Rear Rubbing / Grinding

The other two are different ratios - I would go for it at £10 - how much more I would pay - well not sure really. A good wash out and it should be ok. It's VERY unusual for final drives to fail - unless shrapnel from a broken shaft is left inside - and/or it's run with little or no oil! Hi The 4.22...

Re: Rear Rubbing / Grinding

Thanks I saw the £10 one on ebay, given the ammount of rust on it I wonder what the bearings are like. Also I would be supicious as he advertising two different diffs with the same photograph so who knows what you would get. I would much prefer to buy something a bit oily. The complete axle would be...

Re: Rear Rubbing / Grinding

The differential contains two bearings that the ends of the half shafts run in. It is quite possible that one of these has broken up. Should you be unable to get hold of a second hand differential it is much cheaper to replace the bearing than to buy a reconditioned differential unit. Hi Thanks for...

Rear Rubbing / Grinding

Hi I have a rubbing grinding noise from the rear of my car. The nearside seems worst but it is reduced in reverse. I have changed the wheel bearings but this hasnt improved things and it still does it if the wheels and drums are removed. I have just checked the oil in the diff and its full over meta...

Re: Jerking / Juddering / num num num again!!!!!

Have you fitted new super-hard engine mounts recently ? And - is the exhaust system well clear of the body - not rubbing where it goes through the hole in the front bulkhead? Thanks for your replies. I have tried the points and a different distributer - no improvement. I replaced the mounts to try ...
