Re: morris minor burble

Torching the car is a bit drastic but it will crackle and pop for a time :( If you search "exhaust burble" on the net it comes up with some ideas. seems the BMW boys cut a resonator out of the exhaust to get overrun burble :-? The modern Mini club go for exhaust plus ECU changes. I tend to...

Re: Hot head

I measured all of them and came to an average of 7.6 to 7.9mm :D I haven't sourced the rockers yet (solid type) ......I'm sure I'v seen on hear that different ration rockers are around? I'd be in trouble with any higher lift but how do I tell when I come across a set

Re: Hot head

Checked the face to valve clearance and some are a shade under 7.9mm :( the worst is 0.2mm under. I can probably lap that away if you think it's worth it??[frame]Image[/frame]

Re: Hot head

Thanx again chaps :D just saved me a heep of time and cash. I'll stick with the standard 1098 internals, just check things are in good condition.

Do I bin just the inner spring or replace both with 1275 items?

Any tips on the type of gasket, copper/standard 1098/1275?

Re: Hot head

Just checked and valves are 33 and 29 mm as near as using a tape measure can give :D I'll drop out the valves and look at the seats when I change the springs back to standard. I'll be rebuilding a standard short 1098 for this head in slow time and on the lookout for parts, any ideas on the best pist...

Re: Hot head

Thanks chaps :D I'm going to check the valve to gasket face clearance when I can find something better than my tape measure :( my next question was going to be valve seats (I'm planning on long distance runs :D ). the seats on this head seem set in, could be hardened inserts? :D[frame] http://mmoc.o...

I took a bit of a chance with this purchase as It seemed a good price for a refurbished 1275 head too plonk on my 1098 :D The seller had it on a 1275 mini sprite, can anyone confirm it's origin :-? I've confirmed the casting number as 940g which on this head is next to the heater valve outlet. This ...

Re: KFO 702 Saloon Rally Make-over

Thanx TD but I don't think I can do it justice that quick  I've put this months moggy budget against the repair panels. I'm guessing at 150-£200 from web research :x keep them crossed. I'm confident I can cope with the chop and fit and get things tacked/self tapped together but the final weld u...

Slooo down, the evolution towards the ultimate " hairdressers car" turned a perfectly good drive train 90 degrees off course (FWD). pinch a few Mini bits but keep to the North/South faith :D Where would Clarkson and Co be without "tail out action"? 8)
