All in! I managed to strip a road nut though, first one in over 25 years :roll:

Seal went in the way the old one came out, flat bit toward the car.

Getting the bearing back in was an interesting experience, my ears were hurting, and I think I need a bigger hammer.

Absolutely! When I got home I looked at the new seal and its very rigid, so metal band inside it.

I got the old one out with a chisel, hammer and a couple of minor scratches *ulp*

I think this might pertain to my problems today! I have removed the hub, banged out the bearing, and dug out chunks of the old seal. But there now seems to be a thin band of metal in the well where the new seal would go. Reading above it seems to indicate that there is a metal band that also needs t...
