Re: Young owners at the National
Unfortunately we weren't told where the young owners were camping and endured the noise until 3am only to find that some of them were back up making a racket at 6.30am! I did actually hear a lady politely ask them to keep the noise down at 2am and she was just laughed at. There was clearly no attemp...

Re: HELP! bad oil leak from rear of engine
I have an almost identical problem. I took an engine, replaced the bearings, put in a new oil pump etc and now oil drips off of the back of the sump. The higher the revs the worse it gets. I drove to Bristol and back from Worcester yesterday and found that there was barely any oil left in the sump w...

Re: Parcel shelf and heater cover colour
Per the "Original Morris Minor" pg 64 the colour should be "Pearl Grey" and now I have my old parcel shelf out I can see that the factory seem to have sprayed both the parcel shelf and heater cover all the one colour. I managed to get a spray paint can with an identical colour so...

Re: Parcel shelf and heater cover colour
Thanks for the replies!
If there aren't any light grey colour parcel shelves available I may have a go at repairing the existing one first. I'll try spraying a black heater cover...

Parcel shelf and heater cover colour
I have a 1961 car that I'm treating to some TLC ahead of the National Rally. I'd like to replace the parcel shelf since it has sagged and rotted at the back (looks like a radio was fitted at some point that didn't help). As a result of the sagging the heater control knob plays a large part in holdin...

Fat tyre valves
Having just had my wheels blasted and powder coated I took them to a tyre place to have the tyres fitted and new valves. They told me that I needed 'fat valves' and they didn't have any. It seems the standard ones are too small for the hole in the wheel. Does anyone know where I can get the fat valv...

Re: Overheating problem
Thanks for all the advice. In the end I purchased a new radiator because I needed to get the job done quickly to use the car and didn't have time for a re-core. Based on this experience I would agree with the comment here that recore is probably way better than a new radiator. The new radiator is ab...

Re: Bumper over riders - with or without?
I understand the overriders were put there to compensate for the difference in bumper heights between different cars on the road at the time. Years ago I came to the conclusion car looks better without them and I took mine off (along with the ugly "long-range driving lamp" on the front bum...

Re: Rear Seat Belt Fitting - 2 Door
If I had to do the job again I think I would fit static belts for the following reasons: 1. The inertia reel doesn't fit right in the corner of the rear shelf so the fit isn't great. Static belts would have no reel and fit nicely in the corner. 2. The belt itself will eventually start wearing the vi...

Rear Seat Belt Fitting - 2 Door
I'm getting *major* earache about fitting seat belts so the family can travel in my car. I've purchased front and rear kits from Minor Developments (he did say "don't ask me how to fit them!"), done a search of this forum and read the recent article in Minor Matters about installing rear s...

Re: Overheating problem
I replaced the cylinder head gasket - still overheating. I'm now thinking the radiator isn't providing enough cooling. What's the recommendation? Have a new core put in the existing radiator (I have a quote for £50) or replace it with a completely new radiator (they seem to be around £80)?

Re: Overheating problem
Thanks for the suggestions. The heater does eventually get hot so the pump must be having some sort of effect. I remember when I did the Radflush and left the engine idling for 30 mins, a moment after I turned the engine off it bubbled up out of the top of the rad. I have someone lending me a gizmo ...

Overheating problem
After seven years off the road I'm trying to get my car in working order again and hoping to attend the Birmingham MMOC branch rally at Sandwell Park Farm this weekend. Unfortunately my car keeps overheating, at least I think it's overheating. After driving it around town for 20 minutes it will spew...
