The first time I drove it I became instantly aware of the differences between an older car and those on the road today; even the differences from the age of car I learned to drive in (early 80's) and my first car. Fo...

Re: What to look out for in a Moggy

Hi, I was in the same situation as you a few months ago and posted a messgae, see 'Beginners Help'. Had loads of useful info from members which I was most grateful for. There's also a good article on buying a moggy in the technical tips section. You may also be able to enlist the help of a local mem...

Re: Headlining

Hi, Being a newcomer and browsing the site a short while ago, I remember there was a messageboard article and thread on fitting a new headlining. In it the member posted a blow by blow account of how to install the head lining which was very informative, with some useful tips. Can't for the life of ...

Steering wheels

Have a 1956 series II, can you repair the steering wheel? Some of it has cracked and some small bits missing, or do I need to buy a new one?

Re: Beginners help

Tried posting a pic of the cross member but for some reason I can attach to the reply but thats as far as we get. The cross member appears undulating and seems to appear as two layers rateher than a crusty layering that you get with rust that has expanded. Are there any pictures on the site that I c...

Re: Beginners help

Thanks Kevin, thats really informative and I now know what a cover plate is. As I thought, its a sheet of metal welded on to a corroded area of the car to repair & cover it. Thanks for the photo of the kick plates, this confirms this one as well. On a saloon do they extend over the rear wheel ar...

Re: Beginners help

Well had a look at the car, sad thing the owner passed away in November so the wife is selling the car. She doesn't drive it and never has apparently, hence why I didn't take it out. Engine compartment seemed clean enough, didn't start car as I saw the cover panels first and thought that was it. If ...
