why not remove the clutch letting the pressure off then fit the thrust back on .

do compression test,some garages have a thing called a sniffer ,it takes two minuites to check if your head gasket is gone for definate.just a long shot check you tappet gaps if you have a tapping .elimination is the word i think.

not recomended tried one you realy need a receiver tank ,easier to get someone to paint it properly.by time you have bought all the extras the gun wash extra thinners ,protection,then you have to get rid of the runs if its you first attemt.i know someone who spent a week trying to get a shine applyi...

it sounds like new battery is needed should turn for longer than you say.mine stood for nearly a year and a bit of petrol tap on the fuel pump and no word of a lie it started but the secret was a good battery to buz it over.great little motors. :
