I stuck a screwdrive into the hole showing in the first pic and pried the latch in which opened the door. Now I can check out that side for rust. Guess I just need to put some more wd40 into the latch mechanism and work it back and forth until it's freed.

Not my car yet, don't know how long the latch has been stuck, could be years. I think it was parked under a tree, it has leaves and a few twigs in the panel. Might come in handy if stranded in the desert and need some firewood! I have sprayed wd40 in the mechanism, hasn't helped yet. As you can see ...

That makes sense to do an inventory first. Then start with the basic structural stuff.

The passenger side back door won't open. Seems like the inside handle just won't go up far enough. How do I deal with that?

Ok, there is a 950 cast into the side of the block which means it's a 948cc I think.

I have done some stick welding, no mig welding though. Dean, did you do the welding yourself, and if you did how experience were you when you started the restoration? I just looked at your car, and I'm impressed!

Yes, I was wondering about putting in a 1098. It sounds like once one has changed the motor, gearbox and rear axle, it would be better just to purchase a Minor with the 1098 already in it.

I'm wondering about installing a more recent Minor engine. Would the more recent engines be just a bolt in job rather than having to weld new mounts on the frame, etc?

Thanks Mike, I took the hand brake cables off and backed off the adjuster nut. The wheels turn now, but I can't get the two screws off holding on the brake drum. The screws have a hex hole in them, and I have a hex wrench that fits them, but I get the idea I will bust off the wrench before the screw...

After jacking the car up, I found that both rear wheels that are dragging. The front wheels also drag but nothing like the rear. I know the whole brake system needs to be checked out and brought up to spec before the car heads out on the road.
