Re: Bulbs
Andy Instrument panel (speedo) bulbs are 12V 2.2W MES/E10 type 987. (MES means Minature Edison Screw). They look like old torch bulbs. Halfords sell them at great expense if you really must ... http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_215136_l...

Re: RH Glove box lid
Whilst you are at it, I have the little internal passenger door lock lever from a LHD Traveller fitted on my RHD driver's door as it makes locking the car much quicker when you get out ... you just need to make sure you don't lock yourself out though.

Re: Insurance Valuation
WHy not just post up a few photos on here, people on here are generally knowledgeable on values, and aslong as u take a good average, or just the mode you will get a fair price. Hello all Thanks for your tips. I rang FJ and they let me increase the value to £6.5k for the same premium. When I send i...

Insurance Valuation
Hello all My FJ insurance policy is up for renewal and a new agreed valuation is required. It says I can do this myself if its less than £15k or I can go and get my 1970 traveller valued by a specialist. So has anybody had their Minor valued recently? What did it cost and where did you go? I have no...

Re: Battery suppliers
Their computer is probably just measuring the battery voltage and the internal resistance via the current into a test load. If the battery is flat then you have probably lost a cell and it will have a voltage less than 11V off load. If the battery has been undercharged it will have a high internal r...

Horn Push Clips
How many clips should there be on the back of the 1098 Minor horn push made by Lucas? I only have one clip and it looks like there may have been 3 originally. The Triumph Herald has a similar Lucas horn push and the clip I am referring to is like this one http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-613766 J...

Re: Ignition Light
As above and also check the earth strap from the engine block to the bodywork - you could be grounding via the clutch cable only!

Re: positive earth and radios
that says it is both positive and negative earth There should be no short between the metal casing or exposed screws of the radio and either supply lead for it to work like that. If there is a short on one lead then that is the earth for the radio, ie black lead shorted to case means radio is only ...

Re: reversing light
Thats the reversing light switch that came with the Midget gearbox. I fitted the MG 1100 gearbox remote housing to my Minor gearbox. It has the correct drilling for this switch. If you can find one of those then its a simple mod and works well.

Re: sheared off engine fan blade
It's by no means a 'common' failure - without a doubt caused by maltreatment of the blade in the past. Lets just say the fan had not been maltreated in the last 34 years of my ownership. I use the starting handle to turn the engine over. I changed the water pump a couple of years ago and repainted ...

Re: Sheared off engine fan blade
Hello all I set off for the shops yesterday in my traveller as it seemed a nice day. I got to the edge of my village and then bang! There was a lot of vibration, I thought I had broken a spring. Today I had a good look around and found that one blade had broken off and bent back double. It had cut a...

April 29th What will you be doing?
So we all supposedly get an extra Bank Holiday on Friday April 29th. Will you be slumped watching TV, sleeping rough in the Mall or tootling off to a street party in your Minor? Will this be an excuse for a website rally of chocolate wedding cake, jelly and ice cream? Al PS I see that in a break wit...
