Brakes Problem
After the last snow the righthand front brake cylinders started leaking fluid and the car pulled to the left when braking. I order two new brake cylinders and simply changed over the pistons as the barrels felt fine. This solved the problem until the car started pulling to the right now when braking...

Changing Front Wheel Bearings
This may be common sense to some of you but a voyage of discovery for me! I recently changed the front wheel bearings on my 1964, 4 door Morris 1000 and when finished realised the wheel still had plenty of play in it - just what I wanted to get rid of. I posted a message board and got some useful id...

Re: Wheel Bearings haven't solved problem
Thanks All - the problem was not realising that the bearings had to placed in the hun facing the correct direction so that they end up working as a pair. The inner race has one face wider than the other. The wider face must face outwards from the hub so that they do the right job when placed back on...

Wheel Bearings haven't solved problem
An MOT Advisary prompted me to replace the offside front wheel bearings which I did today using a replacement kit from ESM. Once back together the wheel still moves as if the bearing had gone. The inner and outer bearings can only go into the correct side of the hub assembly (as each is a different s...

Dead battery cause?
Driving back from Sheffield this morning in slow traffick and heavy snow I stalled my Morris and it was clear that the battery had lost all power. I was near Halfords and got a new battery and we were off again. The car still has a dynamo fitted and the lights, heater and wiper had all been on (car ...

Distributor Vacuum Unit - fitting a new one
The distributor vacuum unit on 'Doris' does not work i.e. the diaphragm in it is kaput. I now have a new one but cannot find any reference in Haynes as to fitting a new one. Is it a straight swap or does it need fitting and then 'setting up'? Any advice gratefully received. Regards Richard the Fish

Big Vibrations and unleaded conversion
On the first run of the day our Morris sometimes makes a big heavy juddering vibration which comes from under the car. I suspect I'm not using enough choke but wondered if a gearbox tension wire as sold by ESM would help reduce this? Also we have only had Doris since August and do not think she is c...
