Hi Ash, Your car is coming along nicely. Would it not be easier to get a set of konis or spax coilovers from a mini and then change the springs to suit your engine

Lookin good Ash,
With the oil filter under the floor is there enough room when turning the wheels! What about exhaust pipes, lol just thinking out loud.

Re: beefup or different suspension & running gear
Hi, I've just changed my engine from fiat twin cam for a ford focus ST170 zetec into my Morris and I've found that the engine is about half the weight, so I'll need to lower the front of my car by 1" 1/2. As for suspension I've got stanard torsion bars with mini spax on the front & marina s...

Re: 1970 Trav "IGOR" (modified) PIC HEAVY! Ancilleries going on!
Are you using the standard injection system, on my engine I'm using a megajolt ignition from Triggerwheels i asked for it to only power the coil pack and crankshaft sensor, but I'm sure it'll wire up your fuel sensors aswell. I've got to work out how to wire the vvt sensor so it comes in at low revs...

Phew!! That's a lot of late nights lol. I'm fitting a Ford Focus ST170 with bike carbs into my car at the moment, I've had to cut the crossmember for clearance. Your engine must be really short in length not to cut the crossmember?

I forgot to ask you, why have you bolted the suspension brackets rather than welded them onto the car. What are you doing about the exhaust down pipes if you've put the radiators either side of the engine . Sorry for asking just curious

Hi mate
I've been following your build, looks brill. I've got a couple of questions, why didn't you cut the crossmember back abit to give you more clearance and is there anough room at the front of the engine for a radiator! Looking foward seeing more pictures

Here's a couple of pictures of my ST170 conversion[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1302284581_10288 [/frame] The fiat twincam and the st170 engines side by side. The st engine is only 1" longer than the fiat but much taller :D[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1302284852_10288...

Re: fitting a ford z-tech in a morris
Hi The only reason I'm fitting bike carbs is that I've got the peddal box and sevo in the way. Plus the injection set up on the ST engine is a wee bit bigger but I think the standard 2l zetec or 1.8 zetec injection system is perfectly ok to use. I've chosen the bike carbs for slightly more power! :l...

Re: fitting a ford z-tech in a morris
Hi, I'm fitting a Ford Focus ST170 into my Morris at the moment and its bassically a zetec with a fancy cylinderhead,as conversions go it's relatively easy. Yes you need to cut the crossmember for clearance but you need to beef it back up for strength. I'm using the type 9 gearbox as it bolts straig...

Re: fiat twin cam
I'm swapping my fiat twin cam for a ford focus st170 mated to a type 9 box, don't get me wrong the fiat engine was brilliant but I want my car to be quicker :D as for fitting the st engine, it's about 1" longer than the fiat but alot taller. You've still got to cut the bellhousing for steering ...

Is the cars headlights not bright enough that you've got to put neon lights under it?? Are you deaf aswell !! With that much power coming from the stereo the old dynamo wouldn't cope. Apart from that sounds really cool  why not lower it a couple of inches and stick a set of 15" mini light...

Re: Baby Restoration Project
I did that to one of my models, I used a fiat 131 mirafiori rally car for the twin cam engine and wheels, then painted it gun metal grey it looked really cool. Then my 6 year old son took it off the shelf and pushed it off the stairs :o So now I'm now back to square one, oh well. Are the wheels on t...
