LP896 Rims
Hi, I am currently preparing a set of five matching rims for my 1967 Morris Minor Maltese bodied pick up which was originally an ex GPO van. In my collection of rims I have the standard saloon LP802 rims which are 4 inches wide from the inner rim to the outer rim. I also have rims which are marked L...

Re: Malta Pick Up Restoration
The windscreen rubber has a separate insert although it seems most likely that this was changed at some time as the sun here in Malta causes havoc on rubber parts. As was common practice here in the 1970s, the chassis has been replaced with a heavy duty Malta made one. A number of local firms used t...

Identifying Front Shock Absorbers
Hi, Can anyone kindly tell me exactly how to recognize the front shocks for our cars. A friend has invited me to have a look at a number of shock absorbers he found in his father's garage, I am looking for a pair of shocks for my 1967 Morris Minor. Although I know how they look like I wouldd like to...

Thanks for your comments guys, here are some more pics of it in "as found" condition. I plan to start the restoration some time next month hopefully. My time is somewhat limited so I have no idea how long it will take me!! Heres a shot of the interior showing its non original earlier steer...

Malta Pick Up Restoration
Well here goes, after reading about numerous interesting and inspiring restoration projects I thought I might post something about my pick up restoration! My 1967 Morris started life as a GPO van in London and was originally registered SLO 203F (thanks to both Russ Harvey and Chris of the POMM reg)....

Re: Morris van restoration
Don't give up so easily Tim! True unfortunately many imported cars were given "new" chassis numbers by the Malta Police, especially cars like our Morrises which had the chassis number on a plate and not stamped directly on the body. The A-series engines were also very often stamped by the ...

Re: Morris van restoration
Hi Tim, Welcome! I'm from Malta too and there is also Frank who has a yellow Morris 1000 van who is Maltese too and who posts regularly here. I have a pick up with Maltese bodywork which I intend to start restoring soon. Glad that this van was saved, I saw it advertised on maltapark some weeks ago. ...

Re: Morris Van
It is not to my taste, but indeed the quality of the work looks very good. A lot of thought and fabrication must have gone into it. The front mudguards complement perfectly with the doors. The work done to the bonnet also deserves a mention.

Re: removing old wires
I have been following this thread carefully. Thanks for the clearly explained wiring diagram. I am thinking of ordering a new wiring loom for my pick up and as I will be fitting it with a 1275cc Marina engine complete with alternator, I will order the loom with alternator specification, thus I assum...

Re: Series MM Rear Wings
I just went to see a couple of original rear wings for sale locally but they were in poor condition, rusty where they are attach to the body, packed with filler at the bottom edges and with holes cut in them to accomodate VW Beetle rear lights! In other words definitely not worth spending money on t...

GPO Van Colours
Can anyone please give me a rough idea on the different colours of the GPO Minor vans. To my knowledge GPO vans were painted in red, darkish green or yellow. I believe that the red ones were mail vans whilst the green and yellow ones were GPO engineer vans? Please excuse my ignorance but since I am ...

Thanks for your reply Mike. That will make it much easier for me to correctly identify them rather than rely solely on memory! Will send you a PM later on with details of my 1952 MM so that you can add it to the register.

Thanks alot for that super fast reply Mike!
Out of interest what was the difference between the 2-door early Series MM window frames and those fitted on later Minors?
