This post clearly recommends building oil pressure before starting the engine; I'd rather not risk the bearings by putting it under load without being sure the oil is where it needs to be.

I used Revell 14ml 'Email Color' Enamel paint: 31 Gloss Fiery Red and 52 Gloss Blue.

Try rubbing the patch with ordinary kitchen foil. It works for small rust marks and may give you a good enough finish.

Lacquer over the top once you're content.

Looked a the plans and the 'Body Side Assembly' page (pp50?) lists a bunch of screws but it doesn't give their locations, so I can't work out which ones are for fixing the channels. Will probably therefore use No.6 x 1/2".

No drain holes, so that's on the 'to-do' list

Hi, HLS used neat should dry within (I think) 16 hours, assuming it's not old stock that has gone off. If mixed with water based Cuprinol it will stay sticky (I tried it on a scrap piece of wood out of interest!).
